The County Board of Election Commissioners consists of three members:

  • One member appointed by the county committee of the majority party (generally, the county committee chairman).

  • One member appointed by the county committee of the minority party (generally the county committee chairman), and

  • One member appointed by the State Board of Election Commissioners from a list of five nominees submitted by the county committee of the majority party.

Each of the 75 counties in the State of Arkansas has a County Board of Election Commissioners responsible for conducting elections within its respective county.

The County Boards' responsibilities include:

  • altering the boundaries of existing election precincts,
  • establishing new election precincts,
  • establishing a polling site for each election precinct,
  • seleting and appointing election officials,
  • providing public notice of the time and polling sites for holding elections,
  • providing public notice of the candidates and offices to be elected,
  • providing ballots for absentee and early voting and voting on election day,
  • providing election supplies to the election officials,
  • completing a canvass of the returns of any election,
  • certifying the results of elections, and
  • providing a recount of the returns upon the petition of a candidate.

Want to be a Poll Worker?

The Election Commission sometimes has difficulty finding enough poll workers to provide the three “Democrat and two Republican” resident eligible voters to work the polls of each of Faulkner County precincts. Those who work the polls do so as a public service and are generally paid about $115 for the 14-hour day and training session they attend. Poll workers must be registered voters.

If you would be available and interested in serving in this capacity please send your request to: msreynolds@conwaycorp.net or contact the appropriate party representative on the Election Commission (TBD if Democrat, Phillip Russell if Republican) with your Name, Address, and political party affiliation (or note you are an “independent”  if you did not vote in a party primary).  The election commission uses the list of previous workers, and list of possible new workers to appoint the teams for each polling location.

This Web site was built by the Faulkner County Election Commission in cooperation with the Faulkner County Clerk. It was made possible by the generosity of the Conway Corporation and an Odyssey Grant from Hendrix College at no cost to the taxpayer. It is our goal to make voting and the election process as easy and enjoyable as possible for the residents of Faulkner County.
